Ceremony to Mark First Fiber Optic Installation

The City of Fort Morgan will celebrate the first “pull” of fiber optic cable for the backbone phase of its Fiber To The Home network with a ceremonial “ribbon cutting” on Wednesday, July 5.

The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. in front of Fort Morgan High School on Riverview Avenue, across from the intersection with Grant Street. The public is invited.

One Block of E. Riverview Avenue to Close Wednesday, June 28

One block of East Riverview Avenue will be closed to all traffic on Wednesday, June 28, as work is done on a sewer main line in the area.

Riverview will be closed between Simpson and Sherman streets. The closure is expected to begin about 8 a.m. and is scheduled to last only for the day. That schedule could change based on conditions and the progress of the work.

Trash Collection Delayed a Day by July 4 Holiday

Due to the Fourth of July holiday, the City of Fort Morgan Sanitation Department will not be picking up residential trash on Tuesday, July 4.

If your normal scheduled trash pickup day is on that day, please place your rollouts out on Wednesday, July 5, and they will be picked up that day instead.

If you have any questions, please call Bob Evins, Sanitation Superintendent, at 542-3985.

City Sidewalk Program Can Help Residents With Repairs

City Swimming Pool to Close for Swim Meets, Holiday

The City of Fort Morgan’s Riverside Pool will be closing early on June 20 and July 25 for Morgan Marlins swim meets. The pool will close at 3 p.m. on those dates, and will also be closed all day on July 4.

All swim lessons and water aerobics will proceed as normal on the swim meet days, but open swim will only be from 1 to 3 p.m.

The pool will be closed on July 4 for Independence Day. There will be no swim lessons and no open swim that day.

The Fort Morgan Recreation Department has added a second bus with a later departure time for its free casino trip to Black Hawk on July 18 for adults age 21 and up.
