A new exhibition opening soon at the Fort Morgan Museum offers a rare glimpse of the catacombs that lie beneath Paris.
“Life Below: Paris,” a photographic exhibit by local photographer Jon A. Yamamoto, will open in the museum’s lower gallery on Saturday, Jan. 6, at 11 a.m. The exhibit will run through June 25.
A grand opening at 11 a.m. will include a program by Yamamoto regarding his exhibit, which contains photographs documenting his visit to the Paris catacombs. Jeffrey Richards, who is the Consul Honoraire de France a Denver, and Martin Lafitte, executive director of Alliance Française of Denver, will also be included in the presentation.
Yamamoto’s photos offer an extraordinary glimpse of sections of the Paris catacombs that are not generally open to the public. These stunning images show the many sides of the catacombs, including art and graffiti added by artists over the years.
The grand opening and presentation are open to the general public and refreshments will be served. For more information or questions contact Museum Curator Brian Mack at (970) 542-4010.
