Registration began May 21 for the Fort Morgan Public Library’s free Summer Reading Program for youths age 7-12
Summer Reading is a multi-week series that is held during June and July. Most programs are held in the Children’s Library. The Summer Reading program provides a method of keeping children’s reading skills active during the summer. Offerings include literacy activities, crafts, stories, author visits, music and entertainment.
Visit the help desk at the Fort Morgan Public Library/Museum to register. The first 100 kids to register will receive a library goodie bag.
The “Kickoff to Summer Reading” will be held on Friday, June 1, at 1:30 p.m. and will feature bagpipe player Lise Nelson. All subsequent Summer Reading sessions will be held on Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. in the Children’s Library.
Themes and performances will include:
June 7 – Magician Inspector Magic
June 14 – Rock Band, The Juke Joint Cruisers
June 21 – Fun with Kazoos
June 28 – Make Your Own Instrument
July 5 – NO SUMMER READING SESSION
July 12 – Guitar player Martin Gilmore
July 19 – Bilingual Storyteller Pam Faro
July 26 – Summer Reading Musical Performance
July 31 – 6:30 P.M. – End of Summer Reading, Puppeteer Meghan Casey
A separate Toddler Summer Reading Program for children ages 0-6 will be held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10:30 in the Children’s Library. No registration is required but parents/guardians are required to be present.
Toddler Summer Reading will feature singing, reading, playing, dancing, crafts, writing and more.
