May Dates Set for 'Coffee With a Cop' Program

Dates have been firmed up for two May sessions of the Fort Morgan Police Department’s “Coffee With a Cop” outreach program.

After a successful series of public sessions in February, Coffee with a Cop was expanded to include all FMPD supervisors and officers, with meetings planned about twice a month.

Water Project Closes Vickie St., Ninth Ave.

The City of Fort Morgan Water Department moved to the next phase of its 2017 main line replacement projects on Tuesday, April 25, and traffic disruptions can be expected as a result of the excavation and construction work.

This phase will require street closures in the 1500 block of East Ninth Avenue followed by the 900 and 1000 blocks of Vickie Street. The intersection of Ninth and Vickie is also expected to be completely closed all day Wednesday, April 26.

National Drug Take Back Event Saturday, April 29

The Fort Morgan Police Department is sponsoring a free Drug Take-Back event on Saturday, April 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The drop-off location in Fort Morgan will be at Colorado Plains Medical Center, in the northwest corner of the parking lot.

Residents are encouraged to clean out their medicine cabinets and dispose of expired or unused prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs.  Most homes have a supply of unwanted drugs that when left unchecked can be misused or abused by unauthorized...

The Fort Morgan Police Department is taking a leadership role in identifying and sharing best practices with fellow law enforcement agencies.

Free Casino Trip Planned for July 18

The Fort Morgan Recreation Department has begun registration for a free casino trip to Black Hawk on July 18 for adults age 21 and up.

The bus will depart from the Senior Center at 8:30 a.m. and leave Black Hawk for the return trip at 3:30 p.m., arriving back in Fort Morgan about 5:30 p.m. Participants should arrive for check-in 30 minutes before departure time.

US 34 / Barlow Intersection Work Resumes

Barlow Road is fully closed to all traffic just south of US Highway 34 for the next several weeks as work resumes on the rebuilding of the intersection of these two major roads.

The full closure began April 17 and is expected to continue for several weeks, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation, which is heading up the construction project performed by McAtee Construction Company.

Rec Center Shifts to Summer Hours

The Fort Morgan Recreation Center will have shortened hours of operation during the spring and summer seasons. The change in hours started Wednesday, March 29.

Hours of operation for the Armory Rec Center will be as follows from now through October 31:

Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon.

The Rec Center is closed on Sundays.

Free Disc Golf Equipment Rentals Available at Rec Center

For those who have always wanted to try out the City of Fort Morgan’s widely known disc golf courses but lacked the proper gear, the Recreation Department will have a solution soon.

Starting March 29, the Rec Department began offering free 48-hour rentals of disc golf bags containing a variety of discs to try out on the local courses.
