Probation Services
Services Provided
Fort Morgan Municipal Court Probation provides a variety of services to individuals, such as pre-plea investigations and the supervision of probationers after the Court has sentenced them.

Pre-Plea Investigation
A pre-plea investigation is conducted at a date prior to the arraignment or trial date to provide the judge with additional information about a defendant before a sentence is imposed. A probation officer checks the defendant's prior criminal record and background, compiles the information in a report, and provides a sentencing recommendation to the judge.

In addition to imposing fines and costs, the judge may require a defendant's appearance at classes, counseling or evaluations, or community service as a condition of probation. The probation officer provides clients with referrals to appropriate agencies and monitors attendance and compliance with the terms and conditions of probation imposed by Court orders.

Failure to comply with probation terms and conditions may result in the revocation of probation and the imposition of sentence, including the possibility of a jail sentence. Any questions about what the judge has ordered and what the probation officer's expectations are should be clarified before leaving the Probation office.

The Fort Morgan Municipal Court Probation office handles only Fort Morgan Municipal Court cases. To get probation information on either County Court or District Court cases, contact the 13th Judicial District Probation Department at (970) 542-3465.
