The City Clerk is responsible for many areas of recordkeeping and licensing for the City of Fort Morgan. Liquor licensing is one of those areas. Obtaining and maintaining a liquor license in the City of Fort Morgan is a privilege, not a right. Liquor licenses are issued by the State of Colorado
and the City of Fort Morgan. The City cannot issue the local license until the State has reviewed and approved the application and issued the State license.
The City Council
acts as the Liquor Licensing Authority. Hearings for new licenses must be placed on the City Council meeting agenda according to the City's adopted agenda policy. The City Clerk coordinates agenda placement. The City Clerk serves as the liaison for the Liquor Licensing Authority and works directly with applicants to prepare for the Council's consideration of each new application and each renewal.
Once a liquor license is issued for a corporation, LLC, or partnership, any change to stockholders with a 10% or greater ownership interest, as well as officers, directors, managing members, and members must be reported to the City and State. If you are adding anyone new, they will need to complete the State's Individual History Record Form
and be fingerprinted.
The City Clerk
welcomes any questions related to liquor licensing.
