A Farmers Market is when food is being sold for home consumption at a temporary location within the City limits of Fort Morgan. These food vendors must obtain a City of Fort Morgan Farmers Market License by filing an Application for Farmers Market Sales Tax License with the City Clerk
. The license which must be posted at the temporary market location or available for viewing on site.
The vendors do not charge the State sales tax of 2.9% on these sales because the State exempts food sales for home consumption. However, the City sales tax of 3% must be charged / collected / remitted at the end of the season to the City Treasurer
using the Farmers Market Tax Return Form.
