The Wastewater Treatment Plant is responsible for the treatment of wastewater generated by residential, commercial, and industrial customers within the City service area. The facility also treats approximately 50,000 gallons per day (gpd) of sanitary waste generated by residential customers in Log Lane Village.

Treating Wastewater
The average daily flow-through of the treatment process is approximately 1.1 million gallons per day (mgd). The treated wastewater is discharged to the South Platte River and the residual material removed during the treatment process is stabilized and applied as a soil amendment.

About the Facility
The facility has operated well since its start up in 1996, achieving an average removal efficiency of 95% for total suspended solids and 96% for biochemical oxygen demand. During 2013, approximately 1,020,000 gallons of stabilized sludge or 137.45 dry tons was applied to the City farm for beneficial reuse.

The plant's laboratory tests for wastewater requirements and performs testing for other local communities.
