[ARCHIVED] Attempted Burglary of Business

In the early morning hours on July 14th, police responded to an alarm at a business in the 100 block of West Street. When they arrived they met with the business person responsible for the building.

In the early morning hours on July 14th, police responded to an alarm at a business in the 100 block of West Street. When they arrived they met with the business person responsible for the building.

The business person explained they had received a call from the alarm company at approximately 4:00 in the morning, advising an intrusion alarm had been activated at the business. When they arrived they found a vent on the side of the building had been pried open allowing someone to crawl into the business.

Police checked the location for intruders but did not find anyone. The responding person also checked the building and did not find anything missing. It is believed that after the would-be thief entered the business; an audible alarm was activated causing the burglar to flee.

Officers collected potential evidence at the scene and are looking for anyone with information about the crime. Damage to the building was estimated at $250 dollars.

If residents suspect their home or business has been broken into they are urged to call police immediately and let officers check the location before entering the building themselves.
