[ARCHIVED] Two Burglaries in One Night

Fort Morgan Police are investigating two burglaries that occurred on the same evening, one a residential burglary, the other a business.

Fort Morgan Police are investigating two burglaries that occurred on the same evening, one a residential burglary, the other a business.

On August 9th Fort Morgan officers were called to investigate two separate burglaries that occurred on the opposite sides of town. Both crimes resulted in damage to buildings and theft of valuables.

The first call came from a residence in the 1000 block of Simpson Street. The tenant reported returning home late in the evening to find the door to the home open and two video game systems stolen along with the games inside. Upon further investigation a window to the room was found open with the screen removed.

Police believe the thief entered through the window, stole the items and left through the door. The value of the missing items was reported at $530 dollars.

The second burglary call came early the next morning when officers responded to a call of a broken window at a business in the 200 block of South Sherman Street. Officers searched the business and found damage to the cash register and a display case had been broken into and items stolen.

Video surveillance at the business recorded images of the thief inside the store and officers collected items to be tested for further evidence. Estimates of damage and the value of missing items are still pending.

These two burglaries remain under investigation and police are asking anyone with information to please call (970) 867-5678.

If a person with information wishes to remain anonymous they can call Crime Stoppers at (970) 542-3411 and may be eligible for a cash reward or submit your tip online.
