Community members will have an opportunity to discuss their relationship with the Fort Morgan Police Department and key issues during a listening session scheduled for Monday, Aug. 6.
The FMPD has been selected by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) as one of only four communities nationwide to host one of these public forums. It will be held at Morgan Community College in the Founder’s Room from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The purpose of the community listening forum is to continue to build on the excellent relationship the police department has with the community, discuss key issues that concern the community, and review current and potential initiatives to enhance relationships between the community and the police department.
Similar community listening forums are being held in Albany, N.Y., Ferguson, Mo., and Sacramento, Calif. The meeting will be facilitated by Dr. Patrick Oliver, director of the Criminal Justice Program at Cedarville University.
People who are interested in attending must RSVP to Michelle Miller at (970) 542-3939 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Due to space constraints IACP has limited attendance to the first 30 registered attendees. Please RSVP as soon as possible. Lunch will be provided.
The FMPD looks forward to seeing interested community members at this important community meeting.
