The City of Fort Morgan appreciates all those patrons who support the Quail Dunes Golf Course, and especially those who continued to support the staff and course this past season when course conditions were less than ideal.
In appreciation, Quail Dunes season pass holders who currently hold a 2019 annual pass product will have their expiration date extended to April 30 of 2020, allowing them an extra two months on their current pass. Moving forward, the new renewal date for annual pass products will be May 1.
The 2019 season was a difficult year at the Quail Dunes Golf Course with turf conditions that were far below the expectations of the staff and the citizens of Fort Morgan. The staff has been diligently working on several areas of concern at the course including turf conditions and deferred maintenance. These efforts will continue into the winter months.
Staff will be hosting an independent consultant in the coming weeks to review and assess current conditions, maintenance practices and to provide input for new approaches and best practices to be implemented in the future.
Winter policies will take effect at Quail Dunes once USGA handicap posting for the 2019 season has expired on Nov. 15. Some winter policies will include the use of temporary cups, temporary tee boxes and the closing of several greens and tees to give them the best chance to recover and improve. We will continue with our policy of opening the course only on days that have a forecast high above 40 degrees, and we will not allow any play on the course until the temperature is above freezing and all frost has cleared.
