[ARCHIVED] Stolen Wallet

Weekly Crime Information Alert By Community Resource Officer Roger Doll

Fort Morgan Police are looking into a theft of a woman’s wallet from a discount store while she was shopping there.

The victim was shopping at a store in the 500 block of Warner Street. She left her black, checkbook style, wallet in the shopping cart and it was stolen. The wallet contained a driver’s license, debit card, and approximately $150 dollars in cash.

Crooks often look for unattended purses or wallets in shopping carts. Sometimes they steal items out of a purse or checks from a checkbook, or as in this case, the thief takes the entire item.

This type of crime is common, but avoidable. Shoppers are reminded to keep valuables close to them at all times. Do not leave personal items in a cart and walk away to look at other merchandise.

Anyone with information about this, or any other crime, is asked to call the Fort Morgan Police Department at (970) 867-5678.

If a person with information wishes to remain anonymous they can call Morgan County Crime Stoppers at (970) 542-3411 and may be eligible for a cash reward. Tips can also be sent on-line by visiting the police department’s web-page at and following the “crime stoppers” link on the side of the page.
