UPDATE: The railroad crossing at Main Street is expected to reopen this evening, but will have to closed again next week as crews perform maintenance and repairs in the area.
UPDATED: The next closure is expected to start about 8 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, and continue through 5 p.m. The crossing will reopen overnight and then be closed again from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, March 4, according to information from BNSF Railway.
The duration of the closure is subject to change depending on conditions and the progress of the work.
Traffic will be detoured at Railroad Avenue and Burlington Avenue during the closure. The nearest crossings are at Deuel Street to the west and Sherman Street to the east, but motorists are advised to use alternate routes to avoid the area entirely.
Businesses in the 100 block of Main St. will still be accessible during the closure of the crossing. Detour signage will be in place.
