Fort Morgan still has the lowest residential electric rates in Colorado, according to the 2021 annual rate survey conducted by the Colorado Association of Municipal Utilities.
The latest CAMU survey showed that Fort Morgan’s average monthly bill for residential customers was almost $20 lower than the next-lowest bill - $50.48 compared to $70.23, or a difference of more than 28%.
Fort Morgan also boasts the lowest electric rates among all electric utilities in the state for small commercial and large commercial customers. The city’s rates for industrial customers are the second-lowest in Colorado.
All of these statistics are due in large part to the city owning and operating its own utilities. Fort Morgan’s electric rates have consistently been either the lowest or very close to the lowest in Colorado for at least the past decade.
The CAMU survey included rates from 19 municipal utilities, 23 co-ops and two investor-owned electric companies. The survey covered utilities across Colorado, including many from Northeast Colorado.
