The Gene Doty Senior Center will host a community presentation for seniors called “Money Smart,” an Older Adults & Caregivers Financial Education program presented by Golden Belt Bank on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
This free presentation will educate seniors on ways to be cautious and aware about common fraud techniques that are often targeting older residents. Scammers are known to target bank accounts and assets, making you and your accounts vulnerable.
Hear how you can provide yourself a checklist on ways to dodge the various common schemes used throughout the nation. This informational seminar will identify the types of cybersecurity platform memberships available to seniors who are looking to get ahead of the con.
Get a script template to practice refusing proposals over the phone or through digital communication, and hear how to report elder financial abuse. This awareness can aid in protecting seniors from identity theft, romance schemes, fake check distributions and more.
Guest speakers Traci Schaefer and staff from Golden Belt Bank will begin their presentation at 3 p.m., followed by questions and discussion, in the main hall of the senior center at 307 Linda St.
