Trip for Seniors to Enjoy "CATS" at Dinner Theater

Area seniors can expect a purr-fect weekend event in mid-June when the Gene Doty Senior Center hosts a trip to see the acclaimed Broadway show “CATS” at the Candlelight Dinner Theater in Johnstown, Colo., on June 17.

The well-known production features the gorgeous music of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, including the hit song “Memory,” giving viewers an experience they will never fur-get.

“CATS” is set amid a larger-than-life junkyard playground and is alive with the paw-fect feline characters including Rum Tum Tugger, Mr. Mistoffelees, Macavity, Jennyanydots, Old Deuteronomy, Skimbleshanks and Grizabella. The Jellicle Cats come out to play on one special night of the year — the night of the Jellicle Ball.

Sing along and watch the incredible performers one by one, as they tell their stories for the amusement of Old Deuteronomy, their wise and benevolent leader, who must choose one of the Cats to ascend to The Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life.

This trip is open to seniors in the community age 55 or older, and wheelchair and walker seating is available. The registration fee for participants is $60 which includes the event ticket, dinner, and transportation. Transportation is provided departing from the Gene Doty Senior Center at 307 Linda St. at 10:30 a.m.

The matinee performance will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 17. Travelers will return back to Fort Morgan by 6 p.m. To register or reserve your ticket, please call 970-542-3922. The registration deadline is Monday, June 12, or until tickets are sold out.
