Water Line Projects to Close Main Street Starting June 1

Main Street to be affected by water valve installation.

The City of Fort Morgan Water Department will be doing infrastructure improvement projects starting next week.

Starting on June 1st the City of Fort Morgan Water Department will be installing two water valves in Main Street (US Hwy 52).  This work will require the closure of the center north bound and south bound lanes of Main Street during this operation at the 800 blk of Main St. and between 9th Ave & Fremont Ave.  Through traffic will still be available but motorists are asked to avoid this stretch of Main St. during construction because of potential traffic congestion.

This work is being done as preparation for the water main replacement that is scheduled to take place June 12th for the 600 and 700 Blocks of Main St.  This work will require the full closure of Main St (US Hwy 52) from north of Platte Ave (US Hwy 34) to just north of Seventh Ave. intersection.  The water main is being replaced due to age and degrading condition to avoid future emergency repair work.

Traffic control and detour signage will be in place, and motorists are advised to use alternate routes.

If anyone has any question about the upcoming project, they can call or email the Water Distribution Department at (970) 542-3911 and erik.sagel@cityoffortmorgan.com.

This and other construction projects under way around Fort Morgan are part of the city’s ongoing capital improvement plan, which is aimed at continually investing in infrastructure such as streets, water and sewer lines, parks and other public amenities. City officials appreciate the public’s patience and understanding during the periods of inconvenience caused by these necessary upgrades.
