The Fort Morgan Police Department is investigating a vehicle theft that resulted in the stolen car being heavily damaged in a roll–over accident.
Officers were called to the 500 block of Deuel Street on the evening of April 3rd to take a report of a stolen car. The vehicle was described as a blue, four-door Buick Century automobile.
As Fort Morgan officers were speaking with the victim about the theft, a Morgan County Sheriff’s Deputy located the vehicle, which had been involved in a one-vehicle roll-over in the 20500 block of Road Y. The person who was driving at the time of the accident was not present at the scene.
The victim told police the vehicle had been left with the keys in the ignition and the car was running and parked in the driveway when it was taken. Damage to the vehicle as a result of the crash was estimated at $2,000.
Police are looking for information about the automobile theft and crash.
