[ARCHIVED] Firearm, Money Stolen from Vehicle

Weekly Crime Information Alert
By Community Resource Specialist Roger Doll

A Fort Morgan resident called police on May 17 to report that several items had been stolen from his vehicle while it was parked on the street in front of his home.

The victim said his vehicle was parked in the 400 block of Cheyenne Street in the evening and the following morning when he returned to it, he found several items had been stolen. Items taken included keys, miscellaneous coins, two cartons of cigarettes and a blanket. Perhaps most concerning was a small-caliber handgun that was also missing.

The owner identified the stolen weapon as a .25 caliber Raven semiautomatic pistol. He was able to provide a model and serial number that will be entered into a police database of stolen weapons.

The owner placed the value of all the stolen items at $275. Unlawful entry into a vehicle to commit a crime, such as theft, is considered First-Degree Criminal Trespass and is classified as a felony.

Police are asking anyone with information about this, or any other crime to call police at (970) 867-5678. If a person with information wishes to remain anonymous they can call Crime Stoppers at (970) 542-3411 or submit your tip online and may be eligible for a cash reward .
