On July 12, Fort Morgan Police were called to Morgan Community College to take a report of artwork missing from a display.
The missing piece of art is a sculpture of an Indian woman grinding corn. It is a bronze statue approximately seven inches tall. It is part of the “Harmsen” collection and may have been engraved with the name of the sculptor.
The item was accounted for in June during a regular inventory and was discovered missing on July 12. The value of the sculpture was estimated at $500.
Attempts were made to contact other MCC staff and employees to see if the statue had been moved to another location, but the sculpture remains missing and it’s possible it may have been stolen.
Police are asking anyone with information about this, or any other case, to call the Fort Morgan Police Department at (970) 867-5678.
