[ARCHIVED] Weekly Crime Information Alert

Burglary at Business Results in Damage, but no Theft.
By Community Resource Officer Roger Doll

On September 18, Fort Morgan Police took a report of a burglary in the 100 block of West Beaver Avenue. While the burglar broke through the business’s glass door and damaged items inside, nothing else was reported stolen.

Damage to the front door was discovered around 8:30 a.m. Responding officers found the door unlocked and items that had been on the counter had been knocked onto the floor and broken.
Upon further inspection, officers found the cash register behind the counter. It also had been knocked to the floor and damaged. The person responsible for the business was contacted and they determined that nothing had been stolen from the store, that there was only damage to business.

It appears the burglary may have attempted to take money from the register, but no money had been left in the register overnight.

Anyone with information on this or other crimes is asked to call the Fort Morgan Police Department at (970) 867-5678. If a person with information wishes to remain anonymous they can call Crime Stoppers at (970) 542-3411 and may be eligible for a cash reward or submit your tip online.
