[ARCHIVED] Armed Robber Hits Fort Morgan Convenience Store

Police seek information on Tuesday evening robbery of West 7-Eleven

The 7-Eleven convenience store on the west side of Fort Morgan was robbed Tuesday evening by a person believed to be armed with a handgun.

Fort Morgan Police are asking anyone who may have been in the area of the store at 603 W. Platte Ave. on Tuesday evening to come forward with any information they may have about the robbery or the suspect.

Police believe the robber may have been waiting in the area for an opportunity to enter the store when no one was inside except the 7-Eleven employees. The robbery occurred about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, so anyone who was in that area between 5 and 6 p.m. may have seen something that could help police, according to FMPD Chief Keith Kuretich.

The robber is described as between 5-foot-8 and 6 feet tall, and was wearing all black clothing including a jacket with a hood over the head. There was also a cloth covering over the face of the robber. Kuretich said it was assumed the robber was a male but that had not been firmly determined yet.

The person entered the store about 5:45 p.m. and announced the robbery, Kuretich said, and it is believed the robber was armed with a handgun. After taking an undisclosed amount of cash the robber fled on foot east toward Walnut Street.

No customers were in the store at the time and no one was injured in the incident, Kuretich said.

Police consider the suspect to be armed and dangerous, the chief said, and are asking anyone who was in the area Tuesday evening and may have seen anything that might be connected to the case to contact police.
