Five people were arrested and a sixth suspect is being sought in connection with the burglary of a Fort Morgan liquor store early Friday morning.
During the early morning hours of July 20, Fort Morgan Police officers were called to Mid-West Liquor on S. Main St. in response to a burglary. A citizen had observed the suspects leaving the liquor store, contacted the Police Dept. and followed the vehicle until officers arrived, according to FMPD officials.
With the assistance of the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, Fort Morgan Police arrested five suspects who had fled the vehicle, including several juveniles. A sixth suspect remains at large, police said.
The suspects had forced their way into the store through a broken door and left with several liquor containers and a cash box, police said.
Among those arrested were Douglas Burr and Demitrius Sisneros, both 19, along with three juveniles. One juvenile was released pending charges while the other juveniles, as well as Sisneros and Burr, were held without bond on charges of second-degree burglary and theft, both Class 4 felonies, according to the FMPD.
"The Police Dept. appreciates the assistance from the citizen who reported the incident and, rather than becoming directly involved, called police and followed the suspects," said Fort Morgan Police Chief Keith Kuretich.
