Attempted Theft and Assault

Fort Morgan Police are investigating an attempted theft of items from a vehicle and a minor assault that occurred when the vehicle owner interrupted the crime.

On January 19th, a vehicle was parked in the 1100 block of Grant Street and the owner was outside a short distance away when he observed two Hispanic males approach his car. One of the individuals went to the driver’s side and the other person went to the passenger’s side and opened the doors to the vehicle.

The owner approached his vehicle from the driver’s side and confronted the male party who had entered his vehicle. Upon seeing the owner, the individual on the passenger side fled the area.

During the confrontation between the owner and vehicle intruder, a minor scuffle occurred between the two of them with no injuries reported.

The suspects ran from the area on foot. The vehicle owner later called police to report the incident. Officers attempted to track the suspects using a K-9 unit, but were unsuccessful.

The suspects were described as Hispanic males wearing jackets; one being a black hoodie with white marijuana leafs on the back. The other person wore a big fluffy jacket that was white or beige in color.
