Family Movie Night at Library Thursday, April 25

The Fort Morgan Public Library will hold a family movie night on Thursday, April 25, starting at 6 p.m. in the Children’s Library.

The animated feature “Hop” will be shown and all ages are welcome to attend.

Snacks and juice will be served during the movie and patrons are encouraged to wear pajamas and bring pillows and blankets.

City to Observe Arbor Day with Tree Planting

The City of Fort Morgan Parks Department and the Fort Morgan School District will hold an Arbor Day celebration on Friday, April 26, at Sherman Early Childhood Center.

Erika Gerk’s kindergarten class will learn about planting trees during the event, which begins at 9 a.m. near the new addition on the north end of the school.

The Fort Morgan Public Library will host a Teen Kit Kat Sampling session on Saturday, April 27, from 1 to 2 p.m.

Crime in City Sees Sharp Decline From Prior Years

Most types of crimes in Fort Morgan saw a substantial decline in the first quarter of 2019 compared to the first quarters of the preceding two years, according to the Fort Morgan Police Department.

Online Crime Reporting Program Expanded

A number of new types of crimes have been added to the new Fort Morgan Police Department program that allows citizens to file certain police reports at their convenience without requiring the response of an officer.

The Fort Morgan Public Library will be holding a Poet Laureate contest throughout the month of April to identify the city’s finest poet.

The contest begins on April 1 at 9 a.m., and contestants must be age 18 and over. Poets can enter a one-page typed poem, and must grant permission for the public to read and vote on their poem.

Rec Dept. Planning Weeklong Trip to Branson, Mo., in Fall

The Fort Morgan Recreation Department has a very special trip planned for this fall: a seven-day, six-night adventure to Branson, Mo., that will include lodging, many meals and seven shows in the city known for its spectacular performances.

The departure date will be Sunday, Sept. 29, at 8 a.m. from the Senior Center, 110 Sherman St. The return trip will arrive back in Fort Morgan on Saturday, Oct. 5. This trip is available for anyone 21 and over.
