1. As a contractor, do I have to register with the City of Fort Morgan before doing any work in the city limits?

Yes, you must register with the City and submit for the appropriate permits with the Building Department before beginning any work. You may submit an application online for a Contractor Registration Credential and Building Permit.

 

2. Is there a fine for performing any work in the city limits before filing a permit?

Yes, the greater of $100.00 or 25% of Permit Fee will be assessed in addition to cost of permit

3. Am I always required to have inspections done on Building Permits issued?

Yes, always. Every permit issued, no matter the type, requires at least one inspection. The work described on the permit is not considered complete until all required inspections have been performed and passed by a City Inspector.

4. Do I need to call anyone before digging around utility or other lines?

Yes, you must call 8-1-1, for free service, before digging to make sure there are no utility or other lines that could be hit.
